What can I say about lazy
days on the hook at Pendrell Sound except it’s always an adventure. It's a bit overcast today (Friday) so Connie, Greg and I took out the kayaks for a long paddle around the bay. Frank and Eileen
arrived late Friday morning, and more boats arrived throughout the day filling the shoreline next
to us on both sides including a huge flotilla of 9 boats with cat-hulls, pretty
much RIGHT next to us, with their aft decks facing our flotilla. On the other
side we still had the two large boats, also quite close to us. Yesterday, while
we were trying to get all set up and rafted up together, this large SYC boat powered very close to Greg and Connie’s bow to butt in and claim the rock next to us for their
flotilla. It was kind of rude because we were still maneuvering into position
and they hadn’t given us a chance to secure our flotilla. I went over in the whaler
and explained that we had two more big boats coming in and that they might not
want to be that close to us. I received a response of “there’s plenty of room”
so I just left it at that, can’t argue with someone who has their gear down and
locked. Whatever. Anyway, fast forward to Friday night where we had a raucous
card game outside until 10:30PM, followed by Saturday morning generators, and
guess what….everyone peeled out this morning! I warned the one flotilla that
they were very close, so have no regrets. Today was the quintessential Pendrell
Sound experience, all of the toys in the water, giant flotilla of bodies in
floaties behind the boats. It was a wonderful afternoon! Earlier that day the
boys went to gather clams and oysters and brought back bucketfuls of both. We
had decided on an “Appetizers for Dinner” party for the evening, with Bill and
Lorraine treating us to their homemade pizzas, and everyone contributing wonderful things. There was probably more food than
we’d ever have made if we were just making dinner! Lorraine promoted for everyone to dress in white for the evening, and decorated her table with white decor, passing out white sunglasses. Unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of our group but did manage one of Frank's family! Played another card game of “Pass
the Ace” into the evening, with Greg being the big winner. It was a $5 buy in
so he walked away with $55!
