Anchors aweigh by 6:15 this morning, actually
since we were tied to a dock I guess I can’t really claim that, so let me
rephrase. We cast off at 6:15 this morning so we could hit “The Blow Hole” (a
narrow passage on our route) at decent slack-ish water and also get to the
Johnstone Straits early in the day as the prediction for wind this afternoon is
20-30 knots. The sunrise was simply gorgeous with fiery red and orange colors
splashed across the water in our path. It was a beautiful calm morning and, as
we entered the Johnstones with the light wind behind us, John soon relocated to
topside and ran from there the entire way to Blind Channel Marina. We found
Blind Channel to be in tip top shape as always, very clean, great staff and
excellent dock staff this year who were extremely competent. The marina has an
outdoor shack that serves lunches and now they also serve breakfast in the main restaurant which is new this year. The restaurant specializes in German cuisine for dinner, but always has a few
fresh seafood entrees to choose from as well. The store is stocked with all the
essentials and lots of beautiful gift items. We ran into some friends here that
are mutual friends of the Malmos and Wardens, Gary and Carol White, and spent a
lot of time visiting with them followed by dinner together at the restaurant. Not
much to report today as our trip is winding down to a close and we are stopping
at docks for the next few days. However, we are going out with a bang as we are
being reunited with some of our boating friends from home over the next few
days with lots of parties on the horizon.
