Day 81 – Moored at Blind Channel – August 1, 2018

John went fishing with Gary on the early morning slack today and I enjoyed a quiet morning reading and getting caught up on the world’s news. John caught a nice coho but unfortunately it was a wild one and right now in this area you can only keep hatchery coho, so it was released back into the wild. Oh well, we seem to have plenty of salmon for now anyway. Gary and Carol went out in the afternoon and snagged a couple of ling cod so they were pleased. Tom and Marlien Paine arrived around noon today – our first friend reunion! We all had a great afternoon catching up with each other and I got some much needed girlfriend time. Went to dinner at the Blind Channel restaurant again and the Paines treated us to some Delille D2 – we have been deprived of nice wine for a couple of weeks since we ran out of everything so it was much appreciated! We stayed up late and gabbed the night away, so nice to be with dear friends. One more note about Blind Channel for those of you who are familiar with the family – we learned that Elliott has remarried which is great news! His wife passed away a few years ago from breast cancer leaving him with two very young children. The children who are 6 and 10 appear to be thriving and happy as does Elliott. His parents also still live here and are active with the family operation as well, it’s just a gem of a spot to pull in for a night or two.
