STUART ISLAND/BIG BAY

 Sunday, August 3, 2025

Another scorcher of a day! Just keeps going. Today is a restful day after all our parties. The boys have been out fishing every day all day, and today is no different. Connie and I decided to head out for another hike to Eagle Lake after lunch, trying to get our steps in while we are on shore. After that we went on a runabout in the whaler to view the sea lion colony across the channel. Years ago there were only a couple of resident sea lions in the area, but now a large group has decided to live in the area and they haul out on the rocks across from Stuart. They are constantly talking and barking and growling, so we wake up to them every morning! Add in the sound of the Eagles chattering and it’s really a quite wonderful immersion into the natural world. We got back and decided to play some cribbage since the boys were still out fishing. Not even one round into our game, our friends started filtering in onto the boat ready to socialize, so by 4:30 it was a full blown Happy Hour party once again on our boat! At 7:30 everyone was still onboard and nobody seemed to be migrating to their boats for dinner, so I whipped up a couple of pepperoni pizzas and fed whoever stuck around! We needed some food. I actually love a spontaneous evening like this sometimes rather than a overplanned and orchestrated one! All good.

Visited the Sea Lion colony again today, they are so fun to watch

The kelp was so pretty today
