STUART ISLAND/BIG BAY TO GOWLLAND HARBOUR

 Monday, August 4, 2025

Time to say goodbye to Stuart Island. Lori & Jeff, and Tom & Marlien had all departed yesterday, but today Abells, Ellefsens, Knapp/Malones and Maddens left. Only our newest friends Bill and Lorraine stayed at Stuart another night. Abells joined us on the anchor over at Gowlland Harbour, just north of April Point, to position ourselves to get into Campbell River as soon as possible tomorrow morning. High winds and rain predicted for Tuesday, so we are all anxious to be tied to a dock. Thankfully we’d had these reservations for quite awhile, and it coincided just perfectly with the timing of the predicted windstorm! Man it was hot once again, especially around late afternoon – it was 89 outside and 87 inside. John turned on the generator and fired up the A/C to get some relief! Abells and we each did our own dinners but joined up for cards later in the evening with Greg kicking all our butts at Five Crowns. Suddenly during cards we had a flash rainstorm which surprised us all! Just 90 degrees an hour earlier and all of a sudden the skies opened up and pelted us! Thankfully we had prepared for tomorrow’s rain and everything was buttoned up and covered outside.

No Photos today, sorry.
