DENT ISLAND TO STUART ISLAND/BIG BAY

 Friday, August 1, 2025

Now that we are down south and hooked up with a group of friends, I will probably taper off this blog, as most of my reports are not about adventures, but rather about parties and socializing! But to the extent I have something worthy of reporting I will do so!

We had a special celebration first thing this morning. It will soon be Marlien’s birthday so we celebrated with a ladies breakfast on Eileen’s boat. Beth bought each of us satin jammies in all different colors off of Amazon. Lorraine brought a bottle of bubbly and we had a lovely celebration!

Today we all moved over the Stuart Island Community Dock for the big Salmon Enhancement Auction weekend that we gather for each year. It’s always the first Saturday in August. Dearest buds Jeff and Lori Alvord also arrived today for the weekend and joined our posse! After everyone got settled we set out for a hike to Eagle Lake. It was very warm and no wind, I think it was 90 degrees and just stifling in the heat. By the time we arrived at the lake I was so overheated that I decided to jump in with all my clothes on – which was shorts and a lightweight long sleeved top. It was exactly what I needed! We had a dock party potluck tonight with our group – Frank fried up fresh ling cod, I boiled up a pile of fresh spot prawns, and everyone brought sides to complement. We lined up our deck chairs on both sides of the dock, complete with umbrellas as the sun was unrelenting – such a fun party! This weather has just been fantastic the past two weeks!

Not a great picture of everyone but just so you get the feel of our dock party!
