It’s my sister-in-law’s birthday today, Happy Birthday Lisa!

After some much needed coffee to pry the eyes open, John and I set out to check and retrieve our pots one last time. We picked up two more really nice crab over 7” each, so are set for crab. The prawn traps blessed us with another 180 prawns – we won’t starve! Back at the boat it was time to process and freeze our catch which took quite a while, but we ended up with 8 nice sized bags of vacuum sealed prawns with a couple cups of smaller ones saved for tonight’s appetizer. We both did a lot of cleanup on the boat, John washing down the tender and all the gear, and restowing it below in our lazarette. It’s a pain in the butt getting all the gear out and onto the deck, and equally a pain to restow it. By 11AM we were underway to our next stop, Sullivan Bay, where we are hooking up with friends from our yacht club, Jim and Lisa Mitchell, and having dinner at the restaurant here – yay! Nobody has to cook or clean. Sullivan Bay is only 12 miles away so we slowly motored over while making water and doing dishes. I took a much needed shower and clothing change out as my outfit of leggings and fleece were covered with shrimp and crab detritus, and a bit smelly. We hooked up with the Mitchell’s on the dock, had a quick welcome visit then we each retired to our respective chores, like laundry and boat cleanup. The store was pretty much out of all the groceries I needed, so we will have to just make do with what’s on board (which as previously mentioned, is quite a lot). Thanks to Lisa M who gave me a dozen eggs, we will make it the next 10 days without a grocery store! We joined Mitchells and their friends from Tacoma YC, Doug and Debbie, for dinner at the Townhall, Sullivan Bay’s restaurant. Had a lively evening and great conversation, the food was OK but not great, but we love to support this operation. Sullivan Bay is a floating home community connected by a series of docks, and is run by the homeowners association or co-op. It’s a very highly desired fishing location, and in its heyday was quite a spiffy operation. The docks are now tired, and clearly there is a lot of deferred maintenance. We hope that they find the money to make some repairs and keep this place running, it’s just such a darling floating village. The managers and staff could not have been more welcoming and helpful, the people are fantastic! They have gorgeous flower baskets everywhere that they are meticulous about maintaining which really helps with the aesthetic.

After sorting by size, heads off, ready to vacuum seal and freeze
