Guess where John is this morning….yep, fishing. I was quite happy to stay nestled under my blanket curled up on the couch with my coffee and book. He came back late morning with stories of lots of catch and release and quite the humpback show right in the bay where he was fishing. He convinced me to go with him back out in the afternoon so I could practice my fishing skills, but by then the waves and swells were a little larger than the morning. We had a couple small ones on but released. Even though the sun was out this afternoon, the wind is chilly and pervasive. I decided to make another new recipe for dinner, salmon with a honey, soy, ginger marinade with rice and roasted cauliflower. It was pretty good, however cauli wasn’t the right side for that dish, but it was all I had on hand. I think some pea pods and mushrooms, or bokchoy, or broccoli would have been better. I also made a brown butter peach cobbler from Bon Appetit. This recipe is to die for, you should make it NOW!

Unfortunately it oozed butter over the lip of the baking dish onto the bottom of my oven so it was a smoke fest. I had just showered and washed my hair, clean clothes on, and now my head was in the oven cleaning it up, which made my hair and clothes now smell awful. I was not happy. On top of that my salmon entrée also got a little too hot on the stove and the honey in the sauce burned slightly again causing smoke and stench, and that was after sauteing the salmon which spit oil everywhere on my cooktop. I keep my galley quite tidy at all times, so with the smoke and mess you could say I became quite grumpy! My mood lasted after dinner and after a couple hands of cards and I told J – “I love you, but I am still grumpy and am putting myself in time out downstairs with my book” – he had a lively evening watching History of the Eagles (band) DVD, and I improved my mood by watching endless reels of nothingness online instead of reading, going down the rabbit hole of random musical performances and The Voice auditions. I have to say I just love Brandi Carlisle, her voice is so captivating. Highlight was the Peach Cobbler which was a big DELISH!

Thought I should make a short video of our "Secured Anchorage" cove, this was taken before the fog lifted

My Peach Cobbler - so good! If you follow that recipe link above, this pie plate sized version is 1/2 a recipe and still spilled over

My friend Lisa M introduced me to this brand of hard cider which is available only in Canada I think? Anyway I have never liked hard cider but I have to say this is so light and refreshing and not sweet, I think I will be buying these when and
if we ever get to town! Pear was good but Peach better, and Lisa says the Grapefruit one is also very good.
