MAY 6, 2022 – PORT McNEILL to PRUTH BAY (Cape Caution Crossing)

Well – last night the boys looked at the forecasts, winds, tides, and all that and came up with a 5:30 departure as the best option for the smoothest crossing. Cape Caution is my least favorite of the major crossings we have to do because it is so long. Watching videos of the legendary storms of Cape Caution and 100’ waves probably doesn’t help my anxiety. Of course we wouldn’t go under those conditions so I don’t know why I torture myself. On super early travel mornings like today, John, bless his heart, will tell me to just enjoy my coffee, blanket and heater, and will brave the cold (it is 38 degrees here) do all the lines and fenders and get the boat off the dock without my assistance – his love language! Here are some pictures of our departure from Port McNeill this morning, will report later if we have connectivity.
