Day 43 – Moored in Juneau – June 24, 2018

It’s my birthday today! And Ashley’s birthday too! We are birthday sistas. Started the day with a trip to the local Heritage Coffee House for a real espresso (we’ve been drinking drip coffee for a week, bleh), some WiFi and a blueberry scone. What a treat! Spent the morning finishing up our 8th load of laundry, cleaning the boat, and getting ready for our next guests, Paul and Anne Malmo, who arrived today at noon. Did a few last minute errands, important ones like the liquor store and marine parts store, then picked up the Malmos at Juneau airport. After dumping the luggage back at the boat we all went for a quick lunch at the Twisted Fish Company at the top of the dock, then bid Jenn and Spence goodbye and John drove them to the airport. Outside Twisted Fish Company there was a King Crab pot that I had John pose next to just to get some size perspective – it’s huge!! Tonight we will go out to SALT for my birthday dinner and now John and I are heading out to shop for a carving I found in a gift shop of an eskimo spearfishing. I think it’s pretty common tourist gift but I don’t care, I like it. I bought a wolf photograph in Hoonah that is now hanging in the boat. It’s fun to get things that remind you of your trip for years to come. Over and out for now, will be in Sitka by June 30th so probably going off the grid for awhile but who knows, I get internet in the strangest places!
