Day 22 – Anchored in Vixen Inlet – June 3, 2018

Woke up to rain this morning but it cleared off by late morning and has been a really pleasant day. Ashley and I spent the morning cracking all the crab and figuring out what to do with it. For lunch we had crab melts on English muffins, and we plan to have crab dip for appetizers tonight. I also intend to add crab to my “Fried Rice” instead of prawns, see  earlier recipe for details. John and the kids went out fishing for salmon and I stayed behind to have some down time, alas no fish today but the whales were back out in the bay feeding so they got some nice pictures. Still the only boat in this big beautiful bay and haven’t seen another boat even in passing. Lots of water birds, seagulls, and eagles.  For the boaters out there, the end of the bay shoals up drastically more so than is shown on the chart. We found ourselves going from 50’ to 9’ without warning. Anchored in 45’, good holding, sandy/muddy bottom which is probably why there are so many crab in here. Dinner was teriyaki chicken (marinated in Trader Joe’s Soyaki Sauce) on the BBQ, crab fried rice and Asian bag-o-salad. Played Phase 10 card game again, Ashley won!
