Today
was boat cleaning day as we prepare for the arrival on 6/12 of fellow MBYC
folks and dear friends from Blakely Island, Len and Stephanie Warden. Lots of
reorganizing their stateroom as it had become a storage space for us. It always
feels good to get organized. We had trips to Home Depot (because John needed
his fix) – ha, no actually we had an issue with the dishwasher that he’s been
trying to fix, and trips to Costco, followed by a stellar dinner at In Bocca Du
Lupo, highly recommend if you ever get to Juneau. Nothing of interest to report
except that Juneau is inundated with cruise ships and crowds, so we’ve been
avoiding the main shopping area, it’s just so crowded. The behemoths actually
moor right outside our dock so many times our view to the channel is
obstructed. As it was in Ketchikan, they arrive early in the morning or late at
night. OH, one of the boats near us is SERENGETI, apparently Johnny Carson’s
old boat. I talked to a crew member and asked about the name, he said Johnny
named it and that the boat – no it’s a yacht, it's enormous, is decorated in
safari theme throughout (Charlene F – sounds right up your alley!). I wish I
could get a tour. The other mega yachts around us have crews that are
constantly washing and provisioning and tending to the vessels in their
matching jackets and hats. It’s kind of entertaining.

Piper the husky at the car rental place. Her sister is an enormous great dane "Lola" but didn't get a picture. Piper was so gorgeous and her coat so soft. |

Stellar find in JNU! Fantastic dinner here, off the beaten path, no tourists (except us) just locals |
