Today
was cleanup day – John spent the morning washing the boat on the outside, and I
cleaned and organized the inside – a total reset. Tried to get some things done
on the internet while we had a connection, albeit spotty. We’ve had the worst
experience ever with Sprint up here and will be leaving them as soon as we can
this fall, as neither John nor I have had any data for 3 weeks because of
“domestic roaming” – we’ve apparently reached our limit and they will not allow
us to buy any more, or change plans to get more – nothing. I ran it up the chain
of supervisors when I was able to reach Sprint Customer Service and got the
same answer. I am OK with not being connected to social media and the news for
the most part, but when we need to research a part we need, or need to find
some information that is important to our trip planning, then it’s frustrating.
So we are left in the dark most of the time. Free WiFi is so hard to come by
even in port so you end up spending hours doing the smallest of tasks because
it just sits and spins trying to pull up whatever it is you are trying to do. OK,
enough of that rant. I don’t have much to report from today anyway. We motored
over to Samsing Cove, just south of Sitka, it was about a 2 hour run at 7
knots, so a very easy putt. We are anchored in a spot that gives us a peekaboo
view to the outside but is very protected.
John got his shaft seal changed out so he is ecstatic that it’s
finished! No more leaky seal. It appears that the washing machine may be
leaking again as evidenced by some wet carpet next to the door. The forward
head faucet has been leaking so John fixed that today too. Lots of things to
fix on a boat, always, which is good for him – he needs projects. The next few days are about down time. We’ve
been running hard and have had a lot of long days on this trip, so we are just
kicking back and doing very little this week, as we will begin the trek south
starting next weekend, which means longer days and a tighter schedule. Maybe we
will do some fishing and exploring, it’s supposed to be 70 tomorrow, we’ll see.
But high pressure usually brings in the winds and waves too. Double edged
sword. No new pictures today, but here are several of my favorites that I enhanced
a bit using Lightroom which I am just learning to use.
