Meet and greet at the pub last night was interesting but most everyone
at least 10+ years older than us. Dinner out last night was at OPA, a sushi place,
and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend if you are ever in Prince
Rupert. It’s a very casual place but you do need reservations.
Woke up to find my rain gear had been swept off the boat from where it
had been hanging in the cockpit and onto the dock in the middle of the night
during the high winds, so John found them in a nice wet pile next to the boat.
At least they weren’t lost altogether. But the good news is that the rain
finally ceased and we could see what Prince Rupert actually looked like this
morning. Pulled away from the dock around 6am with a light southerly and
following seas. We ran for 3-1/2 hours from Prince Rupert to the tip of Dundas
Island and began the open crossing to the U.S. side, only about a 2 hour run.
However the seas began to build and the forecast was for worsening conditions
later in the afternoon, so we decided not to push our luck and turned around
before we got too far away from Dundas. We are now safely tucked away in a
protected bay in Brundige Inlet with the chance of seeing bears feeding on the
shoreline (we are told). Haven’t much
energy for much more than reading my book today and resting “Hippy” who is not
too happy. John went fishing and caught
2 rockfish so tomorrow we will make fish tacos out of it. Tonight’s dinner,
also out of a magazine, was Beef Coconut Curry and I added Yams and Broccoli to it. Taught Shannon and David how to play Mexican Train.

Tonight's Recipe, hope you can read it! I substituted Yams for the Yukon Golds and Added Broccoli The garnish of cilantro and thinly sliced jalapenos were essential (didn't have the fresno chili) |
